Papa
Every lesson you have taught
will help me as I grow,
and you will always guide me
no matter where I go.

As a child, you cared for me-
always by my side,
you took away my pain-
brushed away the tears I cried.

As a teen, you looked out for me-
always gave advice,
you did so much for me,
and love never had a price.

As I am growing older
I am finally able to see
the quiet, caring man
who gave the world to me.

Liesl
How perfect we were as sisters who hated,
And hit, and teased, and forever berated.

How perfect we were at misunderstanding,
The young so naive, the old so demanding.

How perfect we were at growing apart,
No sharing or caring, no room in each heart.

How perfect we are as sisters who know,
Our love for each other took its sweet time to grow.

How perfect we are at filling those spaces,
Our younger selves left in our hearts vital places.
